Hey guys

Hey, so we are slightly taking a break this season, unfortunately. Christina is busy with college, and so am I. I am babysitting full time, working part time, and attending college full time as well. I barely can fall asleep with everything going on!

But here is some big news that I hope all of you have heard. Kevin Pearce is snowboarding again. This truly, if nothing else, should have been posted a while back. Let’s just say, it brought tears to my eyes when I watched the video that was originally posted. This one is an interview, with some snowboarding footage. We love KP!

Check this video out!

Also, Winter X games will be coming up starting January 26th!

Send us feedback, it is alot easier if we know what you want to see, and we actually have reminders. I can try my best, if I get any suggestions to work on them asap

Talk to you soon, (hopefully) .

All Terrain Launches the “All Terrain Cares” Grant Campaign

Check this out: Just released!

All Terrain Launches the “All Terrain Cares” Grant Campaign

Campaign to Help Fund Initiatives Supporting Youth and Outdoor Causes

Sunapee, NH – May 2, 2011 – All Terrain, manufacturers of natural products for those who enjoy an active outdoor lifestyle, has launched the “All Terrain Cares” Grant Campaign, an initiative designed with two primary goals:  To promote youth activity outdoors and to protect open spaces for generations.

The “All Terrain Cares” Grant Campaign is designed to encourage non-profit organizations whose objectives align with those of the Grant Campaign to draw attention to their efforts and compete for financial grants to support their programs.

Beginning on May 16, groups interested in participating should visit www.allterraincares.com and simply follow the application submission instructions. Upon receiving approval of their application, participating groups will be able to use All Terrain’s website to generate votes for their causes as well as post comments, images and videos of their efforts.

Information about each cause will be detailed on www.allterraincares.com to help people learn about the cause and groups may also lobby their own friends and families for votes.

There will be three voting periods – the first will kick-off on June 1 and run through June 30, the second will begin on July 1 and run through July 31 and the third voting period will run from August 1-31.

Winners will be selected based on the total number of votes received during the voting period and Grant Campaign awards will be as follows:

  • First Place            $1,000
  • Second Place       $500
  • Third Place            $250

As an additional way to help support organizations during the Grant Campaign, All Terrain is giving people who order product from its website the opportunity to have All Terrain designate 20% of the proceeds of its sale to one of the submitting organizations.  This is independent of the grant awards and is a way all submitting organizations can potentially benefit.  To help encourage people to order and designate, All Terrain will give free shipping on those orders as well.

“At All Terrain, we feel very strongly about encouraging people to spend time outside, being active, and working to protect the natural environment,” said David Kulow, president of All Terrain. “Reaching out to those who share our vision and rewarding them for their efforts is a terrific way for us to expand our collective impact.”

All Terrain products review!

Hey guys, So I have been trying out some amazing products.

Take a look.

Take a look at how the company got started

“The company originated when a climber was hiking in Costa Rica and a bottle of DEET-based insect repellent he was carrying leaked.  It ate through his backpack and melted the keys on a calculator he was carrying to figure out the exchange rate.  After that experience, he came home, researched and developed the natural, yet effective, Herbal Armor™ Insect Repellent.”

http://www.allterrainco.com/missionandhistory.html

When I got these products I was very excited.

The Skin protectant/sunscreen, being in Montana has not had much use yet, it snowed a few days ago, but when the sun has broke through a couple of days I put some on to soak it up walking around just enjoying the Montana spring sun, and I’m still white and pasty so its good!

The Hand Sanz First time i tried it I was excited to see that when I put it on, it did not feel like it was drying out my hands, and i loved that. The smell, is an averagehand sanitizer smell, but is not strong, so it would not be noticable if in class, or in line somewhere, which is nice, especially when you never know who is allergic to smells.

The Recovery Rub I’m not to sure when it happened, but I would say around 4 years ago my lower back just started hurting after sitting or standing in certain positions, and I have taken a few hard crashes, so I would not be surprised if that’s it. The rub is amazing, it actually takes some of the annoying ache away I love the bit of Menthol. It feels to me like a icy/hot type of rub, but better. It’s natural. I love it!

The Lip Armor You know how many chap sticks are so soft sometimes, where they are in a bag, or in a car and then you try to use it and it melts? While the one I have been using have not been in extreme temperatures, compared to my other chap sticks, its still harder, and doesn’t seem like it will melt. Which is great. Its a solid and mint! I am a sucker for mint! It’s hard enough that its not messy, and great for little kids to use, it doesn’t break down from their hard pressure. It warms up enough to slide onto your lips, and gets to work, lips seem stronger to the weather, and whats also great is that it has SPF 25 too!

The Aloe Gel Skin Relief Skin Protectant Gel I use alot of aloe in the summer Its a burn, aloe type deal, so I tend to stay in the shade, or drench myself to stay protected. This stuff feels great on burns. This product is great. You can put it on a cut, and helps keep it protected, which worked great for me. The moisturizing is awesome too, its not drying out my skin where I feel I need to put Aloe Vera on with a lotion. It also dries fast. You do not have to lay face down into a pillow for five minutes while it dries. Its put on, rubbed in and your ready to go.

Overall these products are amazing. There All natural, what is better then that, and they are fast drying, great for thoes squirming ready to go kids. When I was back home for Spring Break I was shopping at Fred Meyer and was walking by and saw these products (by the tea/bread area, I believe) and I was so excited, I actually jumped up and down once. It’s great to see there out in Fred Meyer now, and they are in great travel sizes. Don’t be hesistant to buy these products, they will be great for summer camping adventures, especially having a just turned three year old nephew running around, getting into who knows what, and getting hurt who knows how. I’ll whip out my All Terrain products and then he will be back to playing again

Columbia’s Omni-heat

Columbia’s marketing team came to us to talk about Omni-Heat, what they have to say is “Omni-Heat delivers warmth and superior regulation of body temperature without added bulk.  We think you’ll be impressed with its performance and really want to know what you have to say about it.”

I think… It is absolutely amazing! The inner jacket will keep you warm no matter how cold it is outside. The outer jacket is great for a “normally” cold day.

And you can wear both, or just one of them at a time. The pockets are great, its fun exploring where all the pockets are and even finding a hiding pocket later on. I have a droid, and the droid fits in the pocket by your wrist, super easy to put it in, and take out when needed without fussing with anything else in the larger pockets.

It’s very warm, and VERY super warm for the omni heat section.I live on the 6th floor and if I wear the jacket (both sections) inside my room for too long, it gets very toasty.

Another great feature is that the hood can come off, sometimes I find it annoying to have a hood on, and sometimes I need it, its super easy to take on and off.

I Absolutly love this jacket! I would reccomend it to anyone.

This photograph is of the omni-heat section of the jacket. AMAZING. and i dont feel like the a marshmellow in it, which i think very important.

This is of both jackets together. The Omni heat section (is the inside jacket) the blue is the outjacket or shell jacket I like to call it. If its cold enough to wear a jacket but not super cold, the shell jacket is great to wear with a sweatshirt under it.

Hey, look, its me when its a blizzard out. :)

If you guys would want more pictures let me know I could definatly get a runway fashion show it of.

You guys are amazing.

Talk to you soon,

Alexa

allmyarcticcircles asked: Hey, I'm thinking of buying a snowboard and kit. What do you two ride/wear? what would you recommend for intermediate snowboarder?

Hello,  I ride a LTD Betty, i bought it as a begining, if your looking for a new board, i like the Burtons or I have been told to also upgrade to an O-Matic, it really depends on what you are hoping to do on the mountains, are you a pow rider? Park? or just a all around board for everything. I wear a Burton jacket, that I love as well as my Burton Shaun White boots, and my Burton Bindings that are Burton customs, that are a few years old. I suggest you go to a outdoors store, or a few of them. Check out some items, takes notes and look for sales are also a good idea. When i bought my boots, I checked them out in a store, tried them on, walked around in them to make sure they were comfortable, and even stood in my stance for a while to make sure they were comfortable. I would also suggest making sure what you buy clothing wise is not tight, or it will be uncomfortable during snowboarding. If your looking for base layer, I have Kombi gear, which you can check out the reviews for the baselayer pants on our blog from a while back.

If you have any other questions, were happy to answer, sorry it took so long, we have our “off” season when the snow fades and we get busy with other stuff

Thanks,

Alexa
